One of the original starter evolutions, Charizard, swaps its Fire/Flying type for Fire/Dragon when it becomes Mega Charizard X with the Charizardite X Mega Stone. It also gets a rad palette swap to black with blue flame accents!
Pinsir, a Bug Pokémon, gets a fearsome redesign when it Mega Evolves with the Pinsirite Mega Stone, sporting a new Bug/Flying type. Plus, Mega Pinsir gains the Ability Aerilate, which makes any of its Normal-type moves behave as Flying-type moves and boosts their power.
Everyone's favorite sea serpent, Gyarados, transforms from a Water/Flying type to a beefed-up Water/Dark type, with the aid of a Gyaradosite Mega Stone. Its new Ability Mold Breaker allows Mega Gyarados to use any moves in battle that would otherwise not affect its opponents.
The enigmatic Mewtwo has two different Mega Evolutions. With a Mewtwonite X Mega Stone, it becomes a formidable Psychic/Fighting type. Any time a move causes Mega Mewtwo X to flinch, it receives a speed boost instead.
The Electric-type Ampharos gains a flowing white mane and luxurious tail along with its fabulous Electric/Dragon type, which is possible only with an Ampharosite Mega Stone. Its new Ability Mold Breaker allows it to use any moves in battle that would otherwise not affect its opponents.
Sceptile is the final evolution of another starter Pokémon, and its Grass type gets an upgrade to Grass/Dragon with the help of a Sceptilite Mega Stone. Its ability Lightning Rod prevents Mega Sceptile from taking damage from Electric attacks and instead boosts its Special Attack stat.
The Steel/Rock-type Aggron loses its dual typing as it's forged into the pure Steel-type Mega Aggron, using an Aggronite Mega Stone. It loses any weakness to Grass, Steel, and Water moves, gaining an advantage over its opponents.
The Dragon/Flying-type Altaria trades its Flying type for Fairy type, becoming the Dragon/Fairy-type Mega Altaria and accumulating even more clouds around itself. The Altarianite Mega Stone makes this transformation possible.
The sweet Lopunny really packs a punch when it gains a new type. With a Lopunnite Mega Stone, it becomes a hard-hitting Normal/Fighting-type Mega Lopunny. But the trade-off is that it becomes weak to Fairy, Flying, and Psychic moves.
And last but not least, the helpful Normal-type Audino that is found in some Pokémon Centers assisting Nurse Joy can, with the help of an Audinite Mega Stone, gain a new type and become a Normal/Fairy-type Mega Audino.
