Evolution Studios has been working on a brand new MotorStorm game. But unlike most sequels, this one is not bigger and more badass. MotorStorm RC is the smallest game in the series, having you control radio controlled off-road racers on both the PS3 and PS Vita. This bite-sized PlayStation Network downloadable will feature tons of connectivity between the two systems, and best of all, a single purchase give you both versions of the game.
MotorStorm RC promises 16 tracks in four locations, with eight kinds of vehicles: Buggies, Superminis, Rally Cars, Muscle Cars, Racing Trucks, Supercars, Big Rigs and Monster Trucks. The levels are inspired by the original PS3 and PSP games, and include the dusty desert of Monument Valley, the jungles of Pacific Island, the icy Arctic Edge, and the urban destruction of MotorStorm Apocalypse. While the environments may be familiar, the tracks will be brand new and played from a classic top-down isometric perspective.
The game will be nearly identical on the PS3 and Vita, with a persistent online leaderboard across both devices. An Autolog-like feature will let you set challenges with friends, and attempt to best their efforts on either platform. Save files will also be synced between the two games--a process Hideo Kojima once called "transfarring."
There's one feature that's exclusive to the PS3 version, however: four player split-screen multiplayer. There may also be cross-platform multiplayer, but the PlayStation.Blog notes that "we’ll be discussing cross platform play at a later date."
