ACE Team, makers of Zeno Clash, have released the latest trailer for their upcoming action-adventure roguelike, Abyss Odyssey. The development team explains some of what to expect in their procedurally-generated adventure, including details on the game's story how the game's collective community of players can unlock more content.
Abyss Odyssey will take place along the studio's homeland of Santiago, Chile around the year 1900. The story centers around a group of characters seeking to stop a powerful warlock that has summoned monsters onto the mainland. Art director Edmundo Bordeu takes viewers on a tour of Cerro Santa Lucia, one of the locations re-created for the game, before game designer Andres Bordeu discusses the game's three characters. Players can configure each character's moveset and adds buffs to each special move as they progress through the story. They will also unlock whole new special attacks randomly as they move forward.
The team also further explains one of Abyss Odyssey's main community-oriented mechanics that affect many of the game's bosses. The most prominent one is that if enough of the game's players defeat a boss, a new form can be unlocked. In fact, if the Warlock is defeated by enough players, new enemies, items, and a whole new Warlock form will become available for subsequent playthroughs.
