Three Sony studios have been impacted by layoffs today. Evolution Studios, the developer behind the upcoming DriveClub, Guerrilla Cambridge of the Vita game Killzone: Mercenary, and SCE London, creator of Playroom, have all had staff reductions.
"Regular reviews take place throughout SCE Worldwide Studios, ensuring that the resources that we have in such a competitive business can create and produce high quality, innovative and commercially viable projects," a Sony spokesperson confirmed to Videogamer. "As part of this process, we have reviewed and assessed all current projects and have decided to make some changes to some of our European Studios."
The statement called the layoffs a "focused restructure," and noted that "development of DriveClub will not be affected." That game had seen some serious shifts anyway, as Sony delayed it out of the PS4 launch window and more recently said it was taken "back to the drawing board."
