With many of Battlefield 4's most egregious problems seemingly behind them, DICE is turning its focus back to expansion development. This means releasing Second Assault on non-Xbox One platforms, something the developer originally targeted for December. Second Assault will precede the next expansion, Naval Strike, which will deploy in late March.
With expansion development apparently back on track, DICE is offering early details on Naval Strike, which will focus on water-based combat across the seas. The expansion will feature four new maps called Lost Island, Nansha Strike, Wave Breaker, and Operation Mortar, as well as new weapons, gadgets, and water-based vehicles.
Second Assault will feature Caspian Border, Operation Metro, Gulf of Oman, and Operation Firestorm from Battlefield 3, redesigned to run with the Frostbite 3 engine and include some new "Levolution" moments. The update will also include a new Capture the Flag mode, ten new assignments with fresh unlocks, five re-mastered weapons, and the return of the Dune Buggy. Originally released in November exclusively on Xbox One, Second Assault will hit other platforms on February 18 for Battlefield 4 Premium members. Non-members will get a crack at it on March 4.
