The latest issue of Game Informer lifted the curtain on Turtle Rock Studios' new asymmetric multiplayer shooter, Evolve. More details are starting to emerge about the game and, unsurprisingly, the co-op element will share a lot in common with Turtle Rock's previous franchise, Left 4 Dead.
"If you've played Left 4 Dead before, you're going to recognize and sort of feel comfortable pretty quickly with this team," Turtle Rock's Chris Ashton told Game Informer. "This team is super co-op oriented to the point where when they work together really, really well, they're incredibly powerful. But when they don't, they also suffer, I think, to a larger degree."
Ashton notes that the game begins with the four-player team in the role of the hunters. However, if the monster succeeds, it will start to gradually get bigger and more aggressive. The game will then shift towards the four players attempting to survive.
Ashton compares the monster encounters to something out of Monster Hunter, but notes that the human element turns Evolve into something more akin to a fighting game. And like a fighting game, there will be multiple hunters and monster characters to choose from, each with different abilities.
2K Games will bring Turtle Rock's Evolve to PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One this fall.
