Pokemon Bank delayed by Nintendo Network downtime

The flood of people turning on their shiny new Wii Us and 3DSs at Christmas made Nintendo's online network struggle, and the company ultimately took it down for a spot of maintenance. Unfortunately, this hiccup has also delayed the launch of the Pokémon Bank and Poké Transfer apps, which were supposed to launch on December 27.

"We truly regret the inconvenience, and wish to reassure everyone that providing a solution is our top priority," Nintendo said in its announcement on December 26. "We apologize for the delay and thank you for your continued patience." It doesn't have word on when the two will launch.

Pokémon Bank is a subscription service which, for $5 a year, lets Pokémon trainers store their pocket monsters online and transfer them freely between Pokémon X and Y. Poké Transfer accompanies this, uploading catches from Pokémon Black and White. Look, here's how it works:
