Thief removes quick-time events too

Last month Eidos Montreal revealed it had cut Thief's XP system in response to fan feedback, and now it's axed another unpopular part. The sneak 'em up no longer features any quick-time events, the developer confirmed yesterday--not that it had many in the first place. Gosh, who ever heard of complaining on the Internet having so many positive results?
"To begin with, there were very few instances of QTEs in the game; in fact there was only one in that whole hour-long E3 demo," Eidos Montreal's Valerie Bourdeau explained in the latest community Q&A. "However, given the strong reactions it evoked in the press and the community, it was an easy decision to do away with them entirely. So we're not doing it. No quick time."
The Q&A also has a little more on the game's Hardcore difficulty.
"We now refer to 'hardcore mode' more as a custom difficulty mode," said lead level Designer Daniel Windfeld Schmidt. "This allows players to customize the game in a number of ways. One of my favorites is the Ironman: if you die, game over. Hey, what is life without a little risk? We even added a 'If the enemy detects you, you die' mode. Now combine that with the Ironman... You get the point!"
And, like in Deus Ex: Human Revolution, players will be turn off helpful but perhaps unwelcome UI elements like NPC reaction icons, as well as Garrett's Focus abilities.
