Sony holding back PS4 inventory, gives hope for gamers that missed pre-orders

Over a million PS4s have already been pre-ordered. And while many retailers have their pre-order inventory sold out, Sony says it's been intentionally holding back units so that people can still buy consoles in stores on day one.

"We want to make sure people can buy a PS4 on November 15 and through the holidays," SCEA president Jack Tretton said. "So, we're holding back some inventory to make sure people will be able to buy one."

Speaking to Fox Business (via IGN), Tretton says that production yields "have been phenomenal," promising that the launch of PS4 will be the largest in the company's history.

"We're going to work very hard to make sure that every consumer that wants one gets one," Tretton said. If Sony can truly ship and sell over a million units on day one, that surely will be a phenomenal start for PS4.
