Renegade Kid to regain Moon rights in 2014, planning sequel

Indie developer Renegade Kid will regain the rights to its first-person shooter Moon, according to company founder Jools Watsham. The studio behind Mutant Mudds created the DS game in 2009, but the intellectual property was owned by its publisher, Mastiff. With the rights pending, Renegade Kid is signaling a sequel.
He went on to say, "It has always been our plan to create a sequel to Moon. Never could convince the pub to go for it. Come 2014 we're in control." The agreement with Mastiff was to last five years, so the IP rights will revert to Renegade Kid once the five-year period is over. That control will also include the rights to port the original, if they choose.
Watsham tempered expectations slightly by pointing out that the studio doesn't have a sequel in development right now. "But, at least we'll now have the ability to do so soon," he said.
