Torment: Tides of Numenera delayed before Kickstarter ends

InXile Entertainment's highly successful Kickstarter campaign for Torment: Tides of Numenera has three days left to go, with almost $3.4 million pledged for the spiritual successor to PlaneScape: Torment. But already, the developer is letting backers and fans know that they expect to need more time to develop the game past the planned release late next year.

In a new update touting expanded stretch goals, Project Lead Kevin Saunders said that the added funds and added content will mean "that we’ll need a few months past the December 2014 launch date we first proposed at $900,000." He explained that they will set out their schedule after the Kickstarter concludes and give everyone a revised timeline then. Many fans shouldn't mind as long as they get a game on the level of the original Torment.

The game grabbed more than $1 million in its first day of crowdfunding, and the inXile team is hoping or a repeat of that financial enthusiasm as the campaign draws to a close. Five more stretch goals were added, with the goal of $4.5 million allowing players to have a stronghold in the game.

In addition, Saunders offered a short video showing animated version of the screenshot of The Bloom that was released last week. Check it out below.
