Joe Danger's date with the PlayStation 3 is set for next week, and developer Hello Games has detailed the extra content--nicknamed "Joe Danger Gaiden"--we can expect.
Managing director Sean Murray explained on to the PlayStation.Blog that the prototype of the first Joe Danger was originally a much harder game. But, Hello discovered that it was too difficult for most players, so it ripped out half the stages and made the rest easier, while adding some new stages.
"The sad thing is, no one ever got to play this prototype game we now refer to as 'Joe Danger Gaiden,'" said Murray. "It was an alternate Joe Danger for a true fan, and I still play it every now and then. When we came to make the PS3 version of Joe Danger 2, I thought it would be a great opportunity to let our original fans play this unseen version."
So the extra ten hours of content that Hello promised for the PS3 version are just that: ten hours of crazy-hard stages that were cut for being too hard or too "quirky" for the game. Hello also retro-fitted these stages with features from Joe Danger 2, like Pro Medals, Ghosts, leaderboards, and hidden challenges. The stages are set in the Motion Capture lab from Joe Danger 2, so you'll just see grid markings instead of environments.
Other new features for the PlayStation 3 version include replays, YouTube support, developer stages, custom soundtracks, highlighted user levels, and the original Joe Danger and his bike as an unlockable for owners of the first game. The blog also states that it has created an area to release new DLC easily. Hello says it has another pack planned for next month.
Joe Danger 2 will release on PSN October 9 for $14.99.
