While few will remember the release of Band Hero, its legacy has lingered, mostly in the form of legal proceedings. However, it appears that the story is finally coming to an end, as Activision and No Doubt have settled out of court for a suit involving how the band's likenesses were used in the game.
The Associated Press (via Gamasutra) reports that the three-year legal feud came to an end with a settlement that avoids the planned October 15 jury trial date. Terms of the settlement were not disclosed.
No Doubt had claimed that Activision did not tell its band members that their likenesses would be used to perform other artists' music. Activision maintained that this was normal practice in game development, and further claimed that it had a recording of the band being told about unlockable features. Activision had filed its own counter-suit against the band as well.
