FTL warping in on September 14

You've pumped all of this money into Kickstarter projects, and what do you have to show for it? Some "exclusive" desktop wallpapers, a t-shirt, perhaps even a playable alpha build, but mostly wishes and dreams. Proving these can turn into actual games, developer Subset Games yesterday announced that its roguelike-like spaceship sim FTL--one of the first big successes of the recent Kickstarter boom--will blast off on September 14 for backers and mere consumers alike.

FTL simulates the constant troubles and turmoil of commanding a starship, dealing with enemy ships and beaming-over boarders. If you've heard a starship captain say it on television, you'll probably get to do it, ordering crew around, targeting particular parts of enemy wessels, rerouting power to crucial systems, pushing the engines until they can't take any more, and so on.

Subset sought $10,000 on Kickstarter in February to finish and launch the game, but ended up with a staggering $200,543.

FTL be sold through Steam, GOG, and the Humble Store. GOG are offering keys to Kickstarter backers who gave $10 or more, too. Hit the official site for more, and peep this trailer:
