The developer has said it is "giving pirates the HBO, reality treatment" in Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag, suggesting that perhaps piracy wasn't all hook hands and perching parrots. Read more

Minecraft has an exclusivity arrangement with Microsoft still in effect, but when that runs out Mojang's Jens Bergensten says they'll "consider" a PlayStation version. A Wii U port, on the other hand, is "very unlikely." Read more

Along with higher resolutions and graphical whizz-bangs and whatnot, PC and home console port of Resident Evil: Revelations also includes a new higher difficulty mode. A new trailer from Capcom shows off 'Infernal' mode, which switches enemies and items around so it'll still be surprising if you've mastered lesser adversities. Read more

An unconfirmed number of people have been laid off by TimeGate Studios, creator of the FPS series Section 8 and, most recently, co-developer of Gearbox's ill-fated Aliens: Colonial Marines. Officially it's part of TimeGate's preparations for "the transition to next-generation consoles and new business models," but rumour says the layoffs come shortly after a publishing deal fell through. The Wii U is a reasonably powerful piece of kit, so how come the recent launch of Crysis 3 skipped it? Developer Crytek did actually have the supersuit shooter up and running on Nintendo's new console, CEO Cevat Yerli has revealed, but the powers that be wouldn't commit to pushing it out and Crytek couldn't self publish. So it was killed. Read more
