A new 'walkthrough' trailer for Splinter Cell Blacklist (more the heavily-edited highlights than a walkthrough) shows Sam fighting fires and chasing terrorists, with varying degrees of stealth. EA no longer has any games in development on Wii U. And with neither Frostbite nor EA Sports Ignite currently working on Nintendo's new home console, it seems unlikely that any Wii U games will be coming from one of the world's biggest publishers. Read more

While no decent person is ever pleased to see layoffs in the video games industry, they're generally accepted as part of the way it currently runs. Not so at Nintendo, company president Satoru Iwata has said. Pleasantly, Nintendo's belief is that while layoffs will help finances in the short term, people who justifiably fear losing their jobs will make worse games. Read more

Why, it's no trouble at all for Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag, as Ubisoft has been using PC releases to play with shiny tech on fast hardware for years. But what sort of shinies can we expect? DLC can be a welcome extension to a game, but every now and then the odd pack frustratingly feels like content which would or should have been in the main game. How lovely, then, that it seems The Wonderful 101 won't be getting DLC as developer Platinum feels it's already crammed every idea it had into the game. Read more
