by Alice O'Connor, shacknews.com, Jun 10, 2013 3:20PM PDT
Ubisoft kicked off its pre-E3 press conference with a little rocking from Alice in Chains guitarist Jerry Cantrell, which is certainly always welcome. Oh, but you see, it wasn't all for fun: he was there to unveil a new version of guitar tutorial game Rocksmith, which adds a Session Mode to freestyle, jam and wail away with a virtual band. Dark Souls 2 E3 trailer shows suspiciously few deaths
by Alice O'Connor, shacknews.com, Jun 10, 2013 2:59PM PDT
We expect E3 trailers not to show the actual game. We forgive pre-rendered CGI and look the other way when it's clearly scripted, but the new Dark Souls II trailer simply takes the biscuit. by Alice O'Connor, shacknews.com, Jun 10, 2013 7:30AM PDT
"There has to be a way to get through," Lightning mutters as she approaches a locked gate in the 'E3 Demo Gameplay' trailer for Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII. Then she presses a button and it opens. Yes, while it's still a short cutty-snippy 'gameplay' trailer, at least it's more honest than most about what you'll actually do in the game. Read more
Watch Dogs E3 trailer is jolly nice CGI
by Alice O'Connor, shacknews.com, Jun 10, 2013 6:45AM PDT
No, CGI trailers don't represent gameplay. Yes, they are fluffy marketing to get you unduly excited. But by gum, the cinematic E3 trailer for Ubisoft's open-world cybervigilante 'em up Watch Dogs is awfully pretty, if a bit eerie. We can still enjoy it as an attractive and well-made video for our enjoyment which by pure chance is somehow connected to a video game. Call it tone-setting and world-building, if you must. Read more
