For yonks, rumours have buzzed about Valve selling its own pre-built PC, fondly nicknamed the 'Steam Box' by fans. Yesterday Valve and Xi3 announced that the Half-Life creator and Steam mastermind had invested in the fledgling hardware company, and that the pair are working on a mini-PC aimed at living rooms with the codename 'Piston.' THQ has tried to maintain business as usual since it declared bankruptcy last month, but despite reassuring words from THQ president Jason Rubin, it appears that THQ's game franchises are going to be auctioned off to the highest bidder on a title-by-title basis on January 22. Read more

Everyone's getting into the Linux game, it seems, and now Nvidia has tossed its hat into the ring. The graphics card manufacturer yesterday announced its Project Shield, an Android-powered handheld which resembles an Xbox 360 controller with a flip-up touchscreen. Curiously, as well as playing Android games, it can play PC games streamed over WiFi from your gaming rig. Read more
