A naughty hacker has busted into the database of S2's Heroes of Newerth, gaining access to account login information. If you've played the DotA 'em up and use a password shared with any other online account, you'll want to get changing those passwords and, honestly, start using individual passwords for each account. Fallout creator Black Isle Studios was supposed to continue BioWare's RPG series Baldur's Gate a decade ago with a third core game, but that vanished soon after being announced. Years after the developer shut down, though, Baldur's Gate 3 almost happened again, at the studio founded by several Black Isle veterans, Obsidian Entertainment. Feargus Urquhart has revealed that it almost signed with Baldur's Gate owner Atari around 2007 to make BG3, but the deal fell apart. Read more

Tripwire Interactive's support of Killing Floor has been jolly admirable, with regular free content updates and paid DLC releases which don't feel exploitative. After taking us to a frightful fairground for its summer event and a mutant hillbilly hideout at Halloween, the co-op survival shooter is blasting players to the Moon, of all places, in its latest 'Twisted Christmas' celebration. Blizzard has spoken many times over the years about a console edition of Diablo 3 and publicly hired for such a project, but never confirmed it as an actual game we'll get to play one day. It does indeed have the action-RPG running on console now, it's confirmed, but even now Blizzard can't say whether or not it'll see the light of day. Read more

Propose something nostalgic and people will whip their wallets out, but ask for help with something new and you may lose all hope in this so-called culture. Fortunately, the phenomenal Sportsfriends managed to narrowly hit its Kickstarter funding goal in the final day, after an awful struggle. Rejoice! J.S. Joust and several other wonderful, wonderful local multiplayer games will receive a proper release. Read more
