Portalarium Kickstarter ends, over $2 million pledged in total

Yes, yes, people really are quite keen to see a new RPG from Ultima creator Richard 'Lord British' Garriott de Cayeux. Kickstarter crowdfunding for his new game, Shroud of the Avatar, wrapped up on Sunday just short of $2 million, and was pushed over that mark by direct pledges outside Kickstarter. As developer Portalarium originally sought only one million dollars, all sorts of futures have been bunged in through stretch goals. Read more
Torment: Tides of Numenera sets Kickstarter record

inXile Entertainment's Torment: Tides of Numenera has set a new Kickstarter record as the most-funded video game in the crowdfunding site's history, wrapping up over the weekend with a whopping $4,188,927 in pledges. It raked in at least $127,000 or so in direct pledges too. The RPG's crowdfunding campaign isn't over quite yet, as inXile will keep things running until the end of April to try to hit its $4.5 million stretch goal of a stronghold for players to call their very own. Minecraft horses teased as PC sales pass 10 million

Minecraft, you may have heard, is pretty popular. In January 2011, while the game was still in beta, it passed 1 million sales. Two and a bit years later, the PC edition has now hit the 10 million sales mark. Gosh, that's a big round number. The Xbox 360 edition recently passed 6 million too, while the mobile version has sold at least 7 million. Read more

Audio-only horror game Deep Sea released

Scratch one from your list of cool event-only games, as Robin Arnott has released Deep Sea, an audio-only sensory deprivation game which has you wear a blacked-out gas mask.
