Many have already detailed how the developer was rushed to print on this game and was forced to leave out a bunch of story and some gameplay elements.
However you really won't notice until you get towards the last 1/4 of the game. Which is indeed a let down, but this is really for fans of KOTORI.
This time around you get more control over your party members, you can turn them one way or the other, turn them into Jedi and you get more Jedi abilities, weapons, everything you loved about KOTOR I.
That also happens to be the main problem w/ KOTOR II, it feels like a user mod or an expansion pack, not a full game.
It is strongly advised to play and complete KOTOR I first as its easier, less complex and has a more focused story. I suspect anyone who tries KOTOR II first will never go to KOTOR I and miss out on one of the best RPGs of last gen.
I repeat KOTOR II was made specifically for KOTOR I fans, so go play that classic now before you dip into the expansion pack.
Once you do get ready for lots of side quests, lots of talking, and many an easy battle. It's ok with me tho as a team of powerful Jedi should really not have that much trouble fighting most things. The biggest disappointment is how weak some of the opposing dark jedi are. But again, that's how it was in KOTOR I so no surprises.
