Project Snowblind is a good game that doesn't achieve greatness due to the drawbacks of the short single player mode and weak story line. Let's start with the good stuff. The graphics aren't spectacular, but they work. Some effects, like cherry blossom petals falling around you, work particularly well, causing awe inspiring moments. Voice acting is spot on, with few weak points. All the weapons are useful one way or another, although the game doesn't do much to encourage switching weapons often enough. The greatest positive, overall, is the feeling of empowerment in the game. It's a great rush to mow through enemy after enemy. It's a feeling that is only below the Halo games and a handful of others. Now the the bad. The single player mode is short. It can be beaten in about 4-6 hours. Multiple paths to make it through each linear objective give some replay value but not much. The second negative point is the story. Anyone familiar with Crystal Dynamics knows of the Deus Ex games, that while short on gameplay were great in story, weaving intricate, multi-branching threads that kept the player interested and involved. Project Snowblind does not have the story telling chops the Deus Ex did. There is not enough exposition in between missions and the main threat in the game doesn't seem pressing or frightening enough to worry too much about. All in all, despite its deficiencies, Project Snowblind is a fun ride that will keep you entertained, although not engrossed, until the end. Its a great way to spend an afternoon.
