I found this to be a decent game, though a little on the short side. It can be completed in about 2 to 3 hours.
The game play is pretty solid, and once you figure out the best tactics to beat a certain machine, battles move pretty quickly. The cover system works well, and is a breeze to pull off, and the animations for it look great.
The graphics seem a little dated, fitting more in the early days of this gen of systems than along with titles that have come out alongside it.
At 3 points during the game, I had the game completely freeze up on me. On a second time playing the game, the same exact freeze ups happened in the same exact area. However, they happen right after a save point, so a quick restart of your system and game and you'll be right back where you left off without any problem. A bit of a pain in the behind, but works well as a chance to go to the bathroom or to get something to drink.
Trophies are pretty easy to get. Playing the game on easy mode will net you 9 out of the total 12 available, all of which are gold, just for beating each of the nine levels. Play through on both medium and hard to get two more trophies (both gold) for beating each game, and then you'll be granted the Platinum trophy. If you have yet to unlock a platinum trophy, this would be one of the best games to do so on since they are so easy to get.
Based on the movie, this isn't just a game where you play the movie. It takes place before the events of the film, filling in why the resistance looks to John Conner as a hero and the one to end the war against the machines.
And since this is a game based on a movie, it could've been a lot worse. Not really worth buying, but good to rent for a weekend when you have nothing else to play.
