In God of War II, how to do you get past the spinning wheel after you cross the acid water?

I am playing the God of War Collection and I am part of the way through God of War II. I just killed a rock monster and shimmied across a vine hand over hand. Now I am standing in front of a wheel spinning to fast for me to run across it....how do I get past it?

There should be a gate for you to open. Once you open the gate you should see an amulet statue. Move towards the spinning wheel and use the amulet to freeze time. You should be out of there in no time..
