I opted to pre-install the track data and everything (which took like 40 min), but I swear it doesn't make any difference whatsoever. Just navigating through the various screens/areas is a chore as well. I think I've spent more time staring at a GT splash screen than playing the game. Once it loads, it's great - but c'mon, REALLY!?

It's pretty bad...I always get really disappointed when a big game like this has loading times that make it a chore to play the game.

Yah. Gran Turismo 5 really takes a hit in the loading times. It sucks. That on top of the 40 minute install time right off the bat almost destroys the game before you even get to try it out.
I've seen worse loading times, but since you put 8GB of it onto your HDD, it should be better than it is. For me, the loading times sum up the entire game: a let down.
