Do you think Modern Warfare 2 will outpace the sales of COD4?

More that likely. There is definiteley a lot of hype surrounding this game, and COD4 was a massive hit. Add to that the fact that many people were pulled in by the inferior Call of Duty: World at War and there is no real reason the game cannot outsell it's predecessor.
Unless, of course, it just doesn't turn out to be as good.

Its a tough question really. Alot of people have loyalty to the Call of Duty franchise. Now that Modern Warfare 2 is trying to break away from the COD ip, its going to be hard for them to tell people that its the second game of COD4.
But the game is sure to be absolutely huge, so chances are sales will be great too.

Call of Duty 4 was amazing and sold millions of copies. But a lot of people i know never bought it because they didnt know about it until after it came out and they didnt want to buy it for some reason. But now that people know how good the last one was, this game is going to sell big time. And i mean BIG time.

It will be interesting to see what new things Infinity Ward tries to do with the franchise. Especially considering, like Psynapse said, that they are breaking away from the COD IP. With COD4 they reinvented the COD franchise and had a large impact on the FPS genre as a whole. People will expect something on the same level and those are some major expectations. With COD: WaW basically being a clone of COD4 in the WW2 era, will people want to play the same game for a third time? It will probably sell a lot regardless and Infinity Ward has never given us any reason to doubt them...can't wait to see the game in action.

Unless for some reason it is a PC exclusive, then it will sell horribly and be the most pirated game ever.
