Do you earn stars online in DJ Hero?

I'm starting to play DJ Hero online now(I suck though) and I was wondering if you earn stars to unlock characters and decks n' stuff.

I'm pretty sure you only unlock stars while playing the campaign. I haven't played much online on that game though because nobody plays it =(
