So I was attacking the blacksmith in the Nexus and now he's hostile and keeps chasing me whenever I'm in the Nexus.
He's useless now, I can't interact with him. Can't even repair stuf!!!
What do I do now? Should I kill him or let him kill me?

There's nothing you can do, just go ahead and kill him now- but don't worry, because there is another Blacksmith in 2-1, near the entrance (go int the shack and drop below the elevator), he can repair all your weapons/armor, too. I know it's not quite as convenient as having a blacksmith in the Nexus, so just try to be more careful next time (when I talk to NPCs, I usually turn my so he faces away from them, that way if i accidentally hit a button and he swings, he won't hit them).

Whatever you do don't kill him. He'll be gone forever, and the game will probably autosave it. As far as what to do next, try letting him kill you and see if that satisfies him. If not, you might just be screwed. Persistence of NPC death and hostility is part of the game's extreme hardcore slant, so you might just have to go on without him, or start a new game and be more careful next time.
