I rented battlefield 3 and i need a pass code to play online. if the game was bought new, it would come with a pass code. How could i know if I like the game if I can't play. Isn't this the point of game fly.

The point of the online pass was to discourage rentals. if game fly gave you then only pass for that game what about the next person? Its a one time use code. there is supposed to be a 2 day trial thru EA if you do some research. The game is worth the 20 bucks it is to keep but have several updates about 6-8 gig that will take time to download.I love the game and have owned since it came out so much better and any MW or Cod title.

dumb question - online pass code only come with a new game purchase. do you walk into a used game store, buy used game, and still get the online pass code? NO (but here on Gamefly im pretty sure you will)
almost all games with an online pass code have a trial download on your systems respective online store and i know all games with an online pass code have a $20 or so code purchase option in the stores
you cant have the online code cuz those 1 TIME USE ONLY codes are for the people who actually want to buy the game and if they just handed them out to anyone what would be the purpose of the code in the first place?
yes one of the points of Gamefly is to try before you buy but its your fault that you couldnt be bothered to take a few seconds to find out if the game requires a code - which Gamefly clearly states in BOLD LETTERS on the games page
