It all depends. If you're just talking about completing the main story, it shouldn't take too long. Maybe 10-12 hours and 30% completion. You're not exactly encouraged to do so though, and there's a lot of fun to be had just blowing stuff up and messing around.
I've already spent about 15 hours (not just cranking through the main story missions), and I'm only about 15% complete.

it is a really long game. If you liked any of the GTA games, you will probably love Just Cause 2.
