Q: Is there anywhere in Pokemon SoulSilver where you can catch an electric type before the first gym leader?

Is there anywhere in Pokemon SoulSilver where you can catch an electric type before the first gym leader?

I'm having trouble beating the leader's Pidgeotto, and I know electric attacks will help. If there's nowhere to catch one, what other strategies work? Should I just brute force it and level grind like crazy?

Why don't you try using a ground-type pokemon so flying attacks won't work. Or rock-attacks would be super effective too.

You can get over to Route 32, right? You can catch Mareeps there, which is the earliest available electric type in the game.
