in terms of power it would be either jean gray (her power almost destroyed the world and still continues to be a massive force in the marvel world) or professor x (come on the man can friggin find anyone any where and also has one of the most powerful minds in the marvel universe).
i guess in terms of popularity you going to get a ton of fan boy answers and biased responses, my favs are gambit and wolverine, maybe not the best but then again HOW do you define the BEST?
