How do you get the guns on Bayonetta's feet to work?

press and hold B. this can be down any time. Just standing there, or in the middle of a combo, (depending upon the combination.)
she'll kick and then hold her leg up and fire off about 5 rounds.

If i remember right, you mash down the B button. Either that or the Y button. If you mash the X button, she shoots her guns in her hands though.
