Darksiders - Voidwalker room, stuck in here right after I get the portal charger, can anyone help?

I just beat all of those guys and received the voidwalker, the thing that allows you to charge and make portals. I have been stuck in this room for an hour.

Can anyone help me out with this?

There are portals on ceiling of the area in the center, one up top and one down below.
