SBox Recommends #5: Spongebob Sqarepants: Battle for Bikini Bottom
In a world where games based on other media are proven unsuccessful and at times lethal (ET), themed games get a bad reputation. However, under that crap pile, there are great gems.
Battle for Bikini Bottom (PS2, XBox, GC, GBA, PC) is a THQ game based on Nickelodeon's mascot (already sounds worse than it is). The games plot is remeniscent of an average Spongebob episode. Plankton creates robots to steal the Krabby Patty forumla and loses control of them. Meanwhile, Spongebob and Patrick make a wish to have a robot with a hillarious concept. When robots reign the city, they take the blame and set out to stop them.
The game is a platformer that controlls 3 characters (Spongebob, Patrick, and Sandy) perfectly. The levels and story of the game shows that THQ took advantage of all the potential Spongebob has. You'll recognize locations that give you free-roam, and laugh all the way through.
This game is a diamond in the rough. Its nostalgia, entertainment level, and humor make this game worth your time.
