Personally, I like the whole backstory surrounding the Halo series a lot better than Gears of War, but I feel I like the gameplay and feel of GoW a bit more than Halo.
It's a tough, call, but I'd say Halo overall.

Gears Of War...its a more human story. We still havent got spaceships or special green suits :P

I don't do so well at Gears, but I've been playing Halo with friends since the beginning socially so I manage to hold my own on that and have more fun playing with friends on Halo.
