Skyrim: "The Cursed Tribe" Question (see info for details)

When I arrive at the Orc Town, the giant has already succeeded in killing four unnamed orcs and Ugor. From my resources, it says that the quest runs fine with Ugor, but when I arrive, the gates to the camp are closed, and there is no way to speak to the quest giver. How do you "hear about the problems" at the camp in Riften, and/or how to I start the quest from this perspective?

you may need to climb the mountains behind the camp and drop in.
i had direct access to the camp and the quest giver was utub (the orc dressed in a black robe)
also i had an issue starting the quest and had to leave the area and return a day later.

Orcs are not friendly to other races. This quest is easier to get if your an orc. Ugor will tell you to leave. You need to speak to Atub, the female orc mage. She's usually at the top of the fortress gates. If you get close enough she might call out to you apologizing for Ugor and asking for help.

Have you been made blood kin? Help out another orc NPC, such as the blacksmith of the Jarl's Keep of Markarth, Moth gro-Bagol (bring him a daedra heart) and they'll make you blood kin, which will allow you to enter ANY stronghold. That's how I did it the first time.
