Is there an easier way to defeat Black Phantom Octopus Heads in Demon's Souls?

I'm talking about that one part in 3-3. I've just been firing arrows at walls, waiting for them to check it out, and when they turn around I back-stab them and run away really scared and do it all over again. it takes forever, so I was wondering if anyone has an easier way to do this?

Anti Magic Field. You can learn it from Urbain at the cost of the 4-3 boss soul. it will disable all their magic attack, and you can even punch them to death, providing the AMF effect doesn't run out by then. They will keep trying to cast magic at you when the field is up, but nothing will happen.
