Like everyone else is saying, my good sir, it is NOT the end of Assassin's Creed. 'Revelations' is the confirmed last title for Ezio Auditore. Though this continues the main story arc and leads onto AC3. Ubisoft even said this, I am sure. Even if they didn't, there is no where else to go but to finish the trilogy they had built.

Some spoilers below.

Desmond is still (SPOILER ALERT) in a presumed coma-like state after the end of 'Brotherhood', like you yourself have seen. In the end credits were people hooking him up to the animus...which leads to 'Revelation' infact. Just a guess really but it seems to be going that way.

So basically, Desmond is the main character. Ezio is the side character. Ezio's games end, but Desmond's is yet to finish.

Do not worry, AC will continue!

its definitely not the end of the series, brotherhood and revelations continue to tell the story of desmond "reliving" ezio's memories. when assassins creed three is announced a new main character will come with it, the company also stated that they had enough IDEAS to make 35 different characters so id be surprised if it ends anytime soon.

it is true that there will be no more assassins creed games with Ezio as the main protagonist. but it has been stated that he may come back in other games whether that be a Cameo or a smaller part similar to Altair in Relvelations

I read that they were taking AC down a different route after revelations. But it is possible you could still see them in future hand helds.
