Are the controls good on Kirby's Epic Yarn?

I tried it at best buy, and it got really odd and seemed almost glitchy. it didn't know that might hve just been the controller. what are your experiences with it?

When I had the game the controls seemed spot on. I returned the game though because it sacrificed being a good Kirby game, for being a good kid's game.
