we just rented the game Black Ops the multiplayer menu has option for nintendo wi fi only. is internet needed

i think you can still play multi player but not online,unless you have wi fi or internet.you should be able to play the game without the wi fi.

The Wii is a wireless console (wi-fi) if you don't have an internet connection going to your Wii you can't play the game online.
What you need is either a wireless router or a usb dongle to allow you to hook up your Wii via RJ45 (commonly known as the ethernet cable) to a router you already have in your home.

For Online matchmaking (multiplayer) you need to be connected to the internet. However you can still play multiplayer & zombies locally using split screen, hope this helps...
