L.A. Noire, it's the most mature, edgy, and well-written story I have seen yet. It definitely pushes the boundaries of story telling in video games.

A few good storylines come to mind: Portal (2), Mass Effect (2), Red Dead Redemption. LA Noire didn't appeal to me, though I admire the effort. Dark Void had a surprisingly good plot, and I enjoy Far Cry 2 more every time I play it, but my absolute favorite storyline has to be Sam Fisher's evolution from the original Splinter Cell through to Conviction.

Tales of Symphonia for GameCube. It has over 40 hours of gameplay and has countless twists, introductions, character developments, conflicts, and is extremely intense in its story. I would only recommend it for people with long attention spans because there is a lot to keep track of.

I love the entire plotline of Gears of War because of the horde has been living below them and was just then attacking, and it tells the story through his eyes and his partners deaths. I also love COD black ops. It is a hard story to follow, but it blows your mind when you find out what has actually happened.

RED DEAD REDEMPTION, best story ever of an outlaw hunting down his past gang members helping everyone on the way, very sad ending however, made me cry a tear.

mass effect is pretty epic. i also love dead space not only is gamplay exciting and has u on edge but the story never stops chucking awesome sequences, plot tiwts and cinematic moments at you.

I mainly play single player, story-driven games. I think the best story I've ever experienced in a game was Silent Hill 2, or maybe one of the older Final Fantasy titles.
