I was thinking about renting Mass Effect for the first time

IMO Mass Effect 2 was a good game, but a bad RPG. The nuts and bolts of making a character were really dumbed down and it became more a shooter. Its still fun to play and the story and writing are top notch but don't go in expecting a great RPG, its more of a great sci-fi experience.

I avoided Mass Effect for a long time because I thought it was just another FPS with a 20 minute single player game.
I'm sorry I did. Its a wonderful game and tons of fun with alot to do. Its a cross between shooter/RPG. I would highly recommend it if you haven't played it.

Mass Effect is my personal favorite series of this new generation, so resoundingly I would say yes.
Well ME2 for PS3 is perfectly fine, if the 360 or PC version is possible I would recommend that over it. Getting to hear all the small decisions you made in ME1 popup in ME2 is a really nice touch. The 'interactive comic' covers the key points but not some of the smaller details
