Yep, id Software, Creators of Doom, Quake, Wolfenstein have been bought by ZeniMAX, who also owns Bethesda, Creators of the Critically acclaimed Oblivion and Fallout3 games.
what are your thoughts on this transaction?

Well, Bethesda seems to be doing quite well in the game industry, and I can't think of a better company to take it with their Splash Damage engine... Or whatever it's called. Too lazy to look. But they're working on games such as Wet (once a Sierra game), and Brink, both which are astounding looking and ground breaking in some of the ideas when I read about them... so honestly, I think id Software got lucky to be backed by them. I hope they can bring something amazing to the game to really make it what it should be for the past 12 years it's been in development.
