Every one has their opinion. Most of my xbox friends says "PS3 is weak", when I go on my PS3 they say "Xbox has no games, xbox sucks, etc." My personal opinion is that they're are both great consoles but have there pros and cons. If I would have to choose, I would choose Xbox because of the Party chat and I know a lot more people on there.

Each have their pros and cons. Neither is a better system than the other (except wii, it doesn't compete w/ xbox or ps3). It really depends on which exclusive games you want to play most and if you want to have paid online or free online.

I don't think it is better, but I remember that when it first came out people were saying it was the best just based on its hardware. I think that people have just been riding that one fact this whole time.

I don't think everybody thinks that. There are a lot of PS3 fans since Sony seems to be picking up a lot of steam over the last few years (and of course hit some obvious speed bumps), but the 360 is still a viable platform, and still has the best online infrastructure, so it's a lot of people's multiplayer console of choice. The Wii, on the other hand, I'll at least give it the fact that it provides a unique experience to what's offered on PS3 and 360, even with them having just introduced their own motion devices.

There are a number of real reasons. The other two consoles aren't bad. They are both good offering different experiences that you don't get with a PS3. But every year it becomes more clear that the PS3 has the most staying power.
The first party lineup is way better. Blu-ray built in is nice for game developers and for consumers who want to watch HD Movies.
I just see Sony taking more risks like LittleBigPlanet and Heavy Rain.
I don't really think there is any denying on a technical level that the console has more potential. But when it comes down to it only first party games and exclusive games will ever showcase what it can do, as no developer making multiplatform games wants 1 version to look way better than the other version.
Bottom line each has their own market with some overlap. But what makes Sony stand out is the first party games not really the system itself.
