Naw, when it comes to pilotwings, what you see is what you get....
However.....
I won't give too much away, but flying into the little cave the river disappears into in the heart of Wuhu has been said to unlock something. You can't touch the water or crash, though, so it is super hard. Same if you land in the Town water fountain.
