"Color changes" as in... shiny Pokemon? I'm not sure if there is a way to get them easier, but the chance of getting them in the first place has actually been increased since the old games. The rate of coming across a shiny is higher, so good luck on finding one!

You can get increased chances to get shiny pokemon by using the Masuda Method. Where you breed 2 pokemon from different language games. Your chances increase from 1/8192 to 1/2048. The easiest way to do this is getting a Japanese ditto and breeding it with English pokemon you catch in game.
