I signed up for the free trial WHY was my credit card billed??????????

I signed up for the free trial and it asked for a credit card # it said it would NOT be used and a few hours later it was! edit I just saw all the other people who asked the same question. So I got my answer. Gamefly should put this info at the sign up and not say your card won't be used because it's a LIE! Real bad start for a new customer!

You did not read the terms of service. You were not charged for the trial, it is a pre-authorization. You will be charged nothing if you cancel before your full membership starts. Read the FAQ below, it will explain.

FAQ:

As an online rental service with items of value, we do require a valid credit card for all GameFly memberships including free trials. When you register to be a member of GameFly, we perform an authorization against the credit card you provided to ensure if you choose to stay a member after the free trial, you are ready to go.

This authorization is temporary and we receive no funds from this transaction. Some financial institutions choose to reserve the funds. The authorization usually expires in 2 to 5 business days. If the authorization remains in place longer than 5 days, please contact your financial institution.

If you read your agreement, you are not charged for the trial and can cancel anytime you want. The trial is still free, the card is used for authorization purposes only during the trial. Only after the trial has ended are you charged.
