how much space does it take to burn to a hard drive?

Installing games to the hard drive generally takes around 5-6 gigs, and each disc has to be installed separately if the game has multiple discs

The space required to install a game differs between games but I don't think I have a game installed that is over 8 gigs and one as low as 3.5 gigs. Definitely worth it, I suggest installing games before you play them

The other answers are right, anywhere from 3-8 gigabits of space needed to install games to your HDD.
Just another little bit of info, if you have multiple Xboxs, don't install games to your HDD because it will only work on the Xbox you installed the game with.
