Common sense says yes. Small writting on a bigger screen is bigger writing.

Not really if you have a standard def TV. It can possibly make them blurrier. If the small words are hard to see, the best way to fix it is to play on a HDTV. It'll make them sharper and easier to read, and at that point a bigger screen will also make them larger without sacrificing clarity.
